This was such a fun weekend project! The kit comes with everything you need, and the precision of the parts is top-notch. I love the mechanical aesthetic mixed with the traditional phoenix design. It’s definitely a bit of a challenge, which is exactly what I wanted. No missing parts, everything was well-packaged, and the metallic finish is flawless. It’s rare to find a model kit that looks exactly like the promotional photos, but this one nailed it. Super happy with this purchase!
I picked up this Vermilion Bird model as a quick weekend project. First off, the colours are absolutely spot on—the contrast between the vibrant red and the gold bits really makes it pop on my bookshelf. It’s made of a mix of stainless steel, aluminium, and copper, so it feels a bit more premium than your standard plastic kits.
A 2-star difficulty rating, it’s a bit of a doddle for anyone who’s done metal models before. It took me about 40 minutes with a cuppa. That said, it’s still quite fiddly in places because the components are small, so you’ll definitely need a pair of tweezers and a bit of patience.
The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is the size. It’s a fair bit more dinky than I expected from the photos.
Overall, a lovely, high-quality kit that looks brilliant once finished. Great if you want something that doesn't take all day to build. Cheers!
